FIREFIGHTERS were called to make a building stable after its canopy collapsed.

The incident happened at 5.45pm yesterday in Leith Avenue, Portchester.

Nobody was hurt in the incident, in which the canopy of the row of shops that include the fish and chip shop collapsed.

Firefighters from Cosham and Portchester made the structure safe by 8pm.

Elsewhere, firefighters in Havant went to put out garden waste that had been dumped in Broadmarsh at 9.40pm.
