A DRAMATIC scene unfolded in a residential street when a car burst into flames.
The incident happened today in Magennis Close, Gosport, just after 3.30pm.
Resident Sean Kennedy was working from home when he saw the incident unfold.
The 29-year-old said: ‘It happened really quickly. It started off as a small fire and within two minutes it really went up.
‘Fuel was leaking from the tank and that was catching fire too. The car is just a shell now, there’s not much left of it at all and the car in front was pretty well damaged too.’
A fire crew from Gosport fire station was called to the blaze. A spokesman from the fire service said: ‘We were called at 3.38pm. Four vehicles were involved – one suffered total damage. Crews used two breathing apparatus and it was out by 4.14pm.’
He said the cause of the fire, which started in a silver Volkswagen Golf and damaged another three cars, which some owners moved, was not doubtful and would not be investigated.
