A 45-YEAR-OLD motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after he was hit by a car.

The cyclist had been riding a silver Yamaha 1700 down Albert Road, Southsea, when he was in collision with a silver Volkswagen Golf.

The incident happened at 6.31pm this evening.

South Central Ambulance Service sent a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance.

The motorcyclist was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham, the extent of his injuries are unknown.

One crew from Southsea fire station were also called to clear fuel spillage and to make the scene safe.

Police were on hand to divert traffic around the incident.
