FIREFIGHTERS were called to a car stuck on the A27 after a fault caused the vehicle’s engine to blow.

One crew from Cosham attended the incident between Eastern Road and Portsbridge roundabout, Portsmouth, at 2.15pm yesterday. A man and woman had been travelling westbound when the engine blew. The driver managed to steer the car onto the hard shoulder, so traffic was not delayed.

Firefighters believe the incident was caused by a problem in the pipes which caused the engine to overheat.
