CHANGES to plans for an historic former brewery site will go before the public.
Linden Homes was given permission to turn part of Gales Brewery, in Portsmouth Road, Horndean, into a care home.
But because no interest has been shown in taking on a care home the developer is putting forward plans to turn it into 32 apartments – including the iconic brewery tower.
A public exhibition will be held tomorrow between 4pm and 7.45pm at the Jubilee Hall, Crouch Lane, Horndean.
Michael O’Brien, Linden Homes Southern’s director of planning and design said: ‘Whilst this part of the site has been extensively marketed, no care home operator has yet stepped up to develop the kind of facility initially planned.
‘As we are not a care home operator and are keen to avoid this part of the site remaining vacant, it seemed a logical and sensible solution to develop the scheme we are now working on.’
