A SHOWCASE of impressive wood carvings was put on for visitors to a country park.

People got the chance to see the Crossway Carvers in action yesterday as they displayed some of their work and made wildlife, clowns, parts of the human body and Christmas trees out of wood at Queen Elizabeth Country Park.

The group is made up of 12 former students at Portchester Adult Education Centre.

Peter Hurrell, who runs the group, said: ‘It gave them a chance to all get together and the beauty of it is that they got to show off their work and boost their confidence in what they do.’
