Hilsea Lido is one step closer to reopening after it received another piece of funding.

Hilsea Lido Pool for the People Trust was given a £480 cheque from Southsea Waitrose from its Community Matters fund.

The trust is waiting for a gap in the weather so it can continue work on recommissioning the pool.

Sabrina Richard, chairwoman of the HLPP trust, said: ‘As a community organisation run by volunteers who are working hard to recommission and reopen Hilsea Lido, every penny donated takes us a step closer to providing the people of Portsmouth with a fun and exciting place to spend their leisure time. We are really grateful to shoppers in Waitrose in Southsea.’

The projects still need volunteers to help with the pool’s restoration. For more information email
