SOUTHSEA Library is set to celebrate its first anniversary next week.

Celebrations will take place on Monday at the library in Palmerston Road, including cutting a cake at 9.30am.

There will also be a special Rhyme Time at 10am, with a visit from Peter Rabbit, plus face painting and cupcake decorating.

This weekend, youngsters aged under seven are invited to the library to take part in a craft competition to design a birthday card.

Lindy Elliot, library services manager, said: ‘We’re excited to wish Southsea Library a happy first birthday, especially after such a successful year.

‘We’ve seen thousands of new members sign up for a library card, and had more than 250,000 visitors which really is something to sing about.

‘We hope to see lots of people at the library to help us celebrate. There will be lots of family fun and games, and cupcake decorating for a real party atmosphere. Let’s look forward to even more success in the coming year.’
