CELEBRATIONS will be taking place in Fratton next month to mark the work of Charles Dickens.

A variety of events, organised by Fratton Community Association, will be taking place on Thursday, October 25, at Fratton Community Centre from 2pm.

There will be a dance performance by Surrender Dance and narrations from Dickens’ books.

The Bunny Warren pre-school will also have activities set within a Victorian context.

People will be dressed as characters from the books and there will be an archive in the café which will allow people to trace their family back to Victorian times.

A Victorian afternoon tea is planned which the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, Cllr Frank Jonas, will attend.

The newly refurbished cafe will also be officially opened on the day.
