Celebratory walk

RAMBLERS will be out in force to mark the second anniversary of the South Downs National Park.

Walkers from groups across Hampshire will take part in a six-mile walk, beginning at the Sustainability Centre, in East Meon, on Easter Sunday.

That will be followed by presentations from the South Downs Society and the National Park Authority.

Owen Plunkett from Hampshire Ramblers is helping organise the walk.

He said: ‘This is a very special occasion for those of us who campaigned so hard for many years to work for the creation of the national park.

‘It gives the beautiful South Downs countryside the protection, management and funding that it needs.’

The event starts at 10am inside the centre and the walk will begin at 10.30am.

On completion of the walk, there will be a celebratory drink and tea and cakes in the cafe.

For further information, contact Mr Plunkett on (023) 9225 4959 or email owen.plunkett@talktalk.net.
