CASINO staff and customers raised nearly £2,000 for charity by holding a darts marathon.

The Grosvenor Casino, in Osborne Road, Southsea, held a 12-hour match to raise money for the Rowans Hospice.

They had a raffle and each player was sponsored to take part in the event.

At the end of the darts marathon, they had raised just over £1,800.

The casino’s customer services manager Alex Hardman said: ‘We definitely had some tired arms by the time we finished. My grandfather passed away at the Rowans Hospice 11 years ago so it’s something quite close to me.

‘And we have customers here who have relatives who were cared for there and they asked if we could do something to raise money.

‘We always try to do something for charity wherever we can.’

The darts match took place in August but the cash was handed over on November 28.
