FIREFIGHTERS got a helping hand from a church group as they washed cars for charity.

The crew from Fareham Fire Station were armed with buckets of soapy water and sponges to raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity.

They were also joined by girls from Fareham Community Church, West Street, who were raising money to carry out community work in Kenya, in July.

Watch manager Ian Cambridge said: ‘It was a fantastic day, the weather really helped us and we washed a lot of cars.

‘We think we raised around £500.

‘Just under half of that will go to the church.’
