A CHARITY that gives people with terminal illnesses the chance to fly has been given a boost.
NATS, the UK’s leading air traffic control company based in Swanwick, has donated an aircraft to Aerobility.
The charity, which is based at Blackbushe Airport in north Hampshire, received the gift after employees at NATS raised £150,000.
The money came from teams pulling a Second World War aircraft along Goodwood Racecourse and taking part in a five-mile swim. NATS chief executive Richard Deakin raised £4,200 when he completed a glider flight.
Cash also came from a 13-hour game of tennis, cake sales and raffles. The extra aircraft means more people will be given the chance to fly.
Mike Miller-Smith, chief executive officer of Aerobility, said: ‘By having another aircraft in our fleet we are able to extend the gift of flight to as many disabled people as possible. We’re a small charity constantly looking to further improve what we offer.’
