WELCOME to a horse race with a difference.

Families can take part in a dice-powered horse fundraiser for Cancer Research UK.

The event has been organised by Alex Newton, of Commercial Road, Portsmouth, after a friend of his died due to cancer 10 years ago.

The 33-year-old said: ‘Cancer has probably affected everyone at some point, but all the time you see more people surviving it keeps you motivated.’

On Saturday, March 30, a race night has been organised at the Goals football centre, in Tangier Road, Portsmouth.

Ticket holders roll dice to move wooden horses around a track.

Betting is welcome and you can bid to own a horse for the evening.

Tickets for the race night cost £5.

Money raised goes to the cancer charity, which funds research and supports families and patients.

For more information, or to book a ticket, call Alex on 07870 638168.
