TEAMS are signing up for the gruelling Wightlink Wight Challenge which is taking place in May.

The Rainbow Centre, Palmerston Drive, Fareham has set up the event which sees teams of three taking part in three difficult feats.

Located on the Isle of Wight, participants have to cycle 19 miles, canoe two miles and run eight miles on May 25.

Joanna Minchin, organiser, said: ‘We are calling on people to join now because they need to start practising.

‘It is like a triathlon but we do the canoeing instead of the swimming to do something different.

‘The location also attracts people and this year, participants get free travel from Wightlink which is a massive help.’

The Wightlink Wight Challenge has been running for ten years and this year, three charities have been chosen.

Wessex Heartbeat, Sail 4 Cancer and The Rainbow Centre will all be benefiting from the event which has raised over £160,000 since 2004.
