Swimmers are being encouraged to take part in a charity dip on New Year's Day.

The Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service (Gafirs) are inviting charities to participate in their annual swim in the Solent.

The event is open to all charities wishing to arrange their own swimmers and sponsorship.

All the money raised by each swimmer will go to their chosen charity.

Swimmers should arrive in fancy dress at the Gafirs Lifeboat Station in Stokes Bay, Gosport at 11.30am on January 1.
