Chefs given platform to show off at food festival

STALLS selling a range of locally produced food and drinks will be on offer this weekend.

The annual Southsea Food Festival, on Palmerston Road will welcome more than 70 independent traders, offering the people of Portsmouth samples of their craft.

Along with all the free samples, visitors will have the opportunity to see some of the chefs in action, at this years kitchen theatre.

Entertainment for the weekend is provided by The Cellars at Eastney, bringing in a mix of mellow acoustic sessions and laid-back beats.

Children are also encouraged to get involved with competitions throughout the weekend, a petting farm and cake decorating classes to get the creative juices flowing.

The stalls will open at 10am on Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19.

Cabinet member for planning, regeneration and economic development, Councillor Luke Stubbs said: ‘Over the years the festival has gained a loyal following. It’s a brilliant way to celebrate real local food.’
