CHILDREN have been having fun taking part in a range of sport activities at Portsmouth Guildhall.

Portsmouth Cultural Trust has been holding its Family Sports Week this week with youngsters taking part in gymnastics, tennis, circus skills and dance.

Ashley Neaves, a tennis coach for Parkwood Leisure, has been helping teach the youngsters.

He said: ‘The recent win by Andy Murray at Wimbledon has inspired children of all ages to participate in tennis which is encouraging to see.’

Children aged from three to 11 enjoyed learning new skills and making new friends.

Money raised from the event will be donated to Portsmouth Cultural Trust.

Marie Jones, from Portsmouth, took her daughters Rebecca Brooks, eight, and Jessica Brooks, four. She said: ‘We saw it on Facebook and decided to come along. It has been really fun for the kids.’

Rebecca added: ‘I played tennis and did gymnastics but the trapeze was my favourite.’

The sports day is running until Friday.
