CELEBRATING children’s literature is the focus of a Gosport parade tomorrow.

The ninth annual Bridgemary Carnival will see volunteers dress up as characters from classic children’s books.

People watching can expect to see characters such as the Cheshire Cat and the Cat in the Hat following behind the parade, which will be led by the Big Noise Samba Band.

The parade starts at Bridgemary School in Wych Lane, at 11.30am, before moving to Brewers Lane, Nobes Avenue and Gregson Avenue and back to the school.

Once the parade is over, visitors will be treated to an afternoon of fun on the playing field, including bouncy castle, rides, stalls, circus skills workshop, a model railway layout and jungle buddies playbus.

Chair of the Bridgemary Carnival Association Lesley Ward said: ‘We’re proud that at our event we offer free stalls to charities, community and voluntary groups from all over Gosport.’
