Children’s activity group launches at city market

KIDS are being offered the chance to get creative at free workshops at the Love Southsea Market.

The classes will give youngsters the opportunity to try their hand at a different ctivity every time the market is on.

Sunday will be the first of these activity groups at the Square Tower, Old Portsmouth, and children will be sewing valentines hearts, which they can take home.

While their children are entertained, parents can look around the stalls, all of which are hosted by local producers.

Shoppers can also enjoy a free cup of tea when they buy a piece of cake on Sunday, if they have downloaded a voucher from Love Southsea’s website.

Louise Whitmore, founder of Love Southsea, said: ‘The market is all about encouraging people to shop locally and keep the pound in Portsmouth.

‘Hopefully the new kid’s group will bring more people down to the market, which will then help support local producers and artists.

‘It’s a nice day out for all the family and a great way for people in Portsmouth to see inside one of our city’s historic buildings.’

Any trader or producer who offers their services for the children’s groups will receive a free pitch for that week at the market.

The market is on from 11am to 3pm, every first and second Sunday of the month. Kid’s club is on from midday to 1pm.
