Choir ready to make its debut at concert

A CHOIR will be holding its first ever concert tomorrow.

As previously reported, Rebecca Robertson set up the all-female Cantando Female Voice Community Choir after having a baby a year ago, when she realised that a singing group would be a good way for new mums to unwind and destress.

Now, after several months of rehearsals, the group will perform at the Groundlings Theatre in Kent Street, Portsea at 7.30pm tomorrow.

Students from the Cantando School of Music aged between seven and 60 will perform songs ranging from those in the opera Porgy and Bess to one sung by teen country idol Taylor Swift.

Rebecca said: ‘I’m really looking forward to seeing my students perform. The Cantando Female Voice Choir only started in mid-September so they have done so well having songs up to performance standard for this concert. For most of the performers in this concert it will be their first time on stage, but I’m sure it won’t be the last.’

Tickets are £3 for adults and £2 for children.
