TWENTY-five years ago an invitation was published for local citizens who "enjoyed singing" to meet at Hayling Island Community Centre.
The response was far greater than the organisers had expected and this resulted in the formation of the Hayling Island Choir.
The wording was most important! It did not ask for trained singers nor even for people who could read music.
The choir was formed for Islanders who merely loved to sing. So it has been from its inception and it has given endless pleasure to those who joined over the years.
On Saturday, September 12 at Hayling Golf Club, members will be celebrating those 25 years.
The choir is trying to get in touch with all past members to invite them to join them from 7.30pm.
The event is open to any past member of the choir and to family and friends, although the number attending is restricted to 90. Tickets cost 25.
If you have been associated with the choir and would like to attend the dinner contact either chairman, John Tappy on 9246 2035, Sue Humphrey on 9246 2658 or Lynda Osboune on 9246 0935 before September 1.
