Christmas cheer at centre

A KIND gesture is ensuring that dozens of elderly people do not spend Christmas alone.

Springwood Community Centre, in Stakes, Waterlooville, is putting on its first Christmas lunch on Christmas Day.

Around 25 pensioners living locally have signed to up.

The centre does a luncheon club every week, but staff decided to go the extra mile to bring the community together on Christmas Day.

Lyn Unsworth, manager of the community centre, said: ‘I think it’s going to be super.

‘It’s a very homely
atmosphere at our luncheon clubs and very friendly and informal.

‘On Christmas day we will try to create a home from home.

‘There will be Christmas songs and quizzes. We are looking forward to it a great deal.’

For more details call Lyn on (023) 9223 0330.
