Christmas ghost story: Christmas Victorious by Phil Chandler

Fred Dinenage reads Christmas Victorious by Phil Chandler.

Phil, picked as the runner-up in the 16-and-over category of The News Christmas ghost story competition, has his wife Jennifer to thank for getting him to enter our ghost story competition.

When he heard his story had been picked out, the 55-year-old from Purbrook said: ‘That’s great. I was reading The News and saw the article about the competition. My wife said I should have a go, so I did.’

Phil, who works as an education consultant, enjoys writing in his spare time. He explained: ‘It’s always been a hobby. But as part of staff development, an opportunity came up to do a course in creative writing at the University of Winchester.

‘I’ve also done some scriptwriting and I thought the ghost story competition would be a bit of fun.’
