A CHRISTMAS toy scheme to help disadvantaged children in the UK has been hailed as a success.

Access Self Storage Portsmouth and The Children’s Society charity say they have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the local community and businesses during the scheme which took place over Christmas.

A total of 150 toys were donated to the cause in the region.

Access Self Storage Portsmouth store manager Helen McPhail said: ‘We are so grateful to all those who made the effort to bring toys to the store.

‘You have made such a difference.’

Paul Tate, from the Children’s Society, said: ‘Though the economic climate is tough, the generosity and support for this appeal has been overwhelming and really does make a difference to children’s lives.’
