Vicar Dan Harman is this week’s worthy We Can Do It T-shirt winner because his congregation have raised around £20,000 for worthy causes this year.

Dan, leader of City Life Church, in Tangier Road, Copnor, Portsmouth, says he cannot thank his members enough for their amazing contributions.

A cheque for £6,000 has been sent off to Iris Ministries, which helps support street children in Mozambique, and another one for the same amount has been given to Step Out in Faith.

The ministry has grown into an international Bible school that serves the rural parts of Africa and the Far East.

Some of the cash raised was given to a vicar in Baghdad and £1,000 of it has gone to The A21 Campaign, which deals with human trafficking.

The church also cares for its local community too – people are being asked to take food donations to a harvest festival service on Sunday which will be distributed to the homeless and a food bank.

Dan says: ‘The Christian message is simple – it’s love God and love people.

‘Everything we do is to cement that point.

‘This is a practical way of showing that.

‘The generosity of people is amazing.

‘They are very much people that want to make a difference.’

The church is holding a ‘All Trick No Trick’ event on October 31 where children will get bags of sweets.
