A CHURCH is growing so much that it needs to build an extension and is appealing for relatives of those buried in the churchyard to come forward.

The planned extension at St Paul’s Church in Barnes Lane, Sarisbury Green, will involve building on part of the churchyard that includes some older graves.

The church is appealing for anyone related to those buried there to let them know.

The Rev Sandy Matheson said: ‘We have no intention of moving any graves – just the headstones. But if anyone comes forward who is related to the person buried there, we’d want to be sensitive.’

So far the church has identified: Elizabeth Jane Bunday, Beatrice Caroline Bunday and William George Bunday (1880, 1880 and 1881), Amy Howard (1881), Ann and Edward Powell (1850 and 1860 in one grave), Martha Parsons (1877), William Osman (1872), Elizabeth Russell (1865).

Anyone who wants to contact the church should do so via buildings@stpauls-sarisbury.org.uk or by phoning Phil Rutt on 01489 580562.
