PORTSMOUTH is set to host the biggest city triathlon outside of London this summer.
More than 1,500 triathletes are expected to swim, cycle and run in the city during the event on August 31.
The race is sponsored by Portsmouth sports equipment retailer, Wiggle.
The course involves an open water swim in the Solent, a closed roads cycle route passing iconic landmarks, and a seafront run.
Places in the event are limited to 1,500 and are expected to fill quickly.
Participants can choose from three distances.
The date has been specifically chosen for favourable tidal conditions and the flat course is expected to offer participants an opportunity to post a personal best time.
Delivered in partnership by Wiggle, Portsmouth City Council and Triathlon England, the event is aimed to get more people taking part in the sport of triathlon.
Andrew Whillas, sponsorship manager at Wiggle said: ‘We’re committed to helping everybody, everywhere, every day enjoy the thrill of sport and with the Wiggle Portsmouth Triathlon participants get to do this on an amazing course.’
