PEOPLE determined to lose weight have been piling up the pounds.

But the members of Gosport’s and Fareham’s Slimming World groups have not let themselves down.

Instead they have been collecting pounds of clothes in bags that no longer fit them to the Cancer Research UK shop in Gosport’s High Street.

Jane Hall is in charge of 15 consultants in both Gosport and Fareham.

The 30 groups, with more than 2,000 members, have donated old tops, dresses, trousers, skirts and more.

Jane said she was pleased by the groups’ efforts.

‘Members in the groups are feeling fantastic through losing the weight,’ she said.

‘Lots of people have dropped down clothes sizes and their wardrobes are full of clothes that are too big and baggy now.

‘And they’re happy to give them away because they know that they’re never going to need them again.’

Together the groups have collected 797 full bags of clothes for the shop in Gosport.

Bags have also been sent to Havant and Southampton.
