TEMPERATURES will struggle to get above freezing for the next few days as an Arctic blast grips the area.
A high-pressure system from Russia has settled over England, bringing day-time temperatures of 2C or 3C in the Portsmouth area.
Last night gritters were out across the area. Temperatures will plummet to -2C during the night – perhaps lower inland – bringing widespread frost.
Forecasters say it will feel colder due to Arctic winds.
Snow is not forecast for Portsmouth, but some flurries have been predicted as far south as London. Temperatures are set to rise slightly on Friday.
