PENSIONERS got into the party spirit after two communal rooms at their sheltered home were given a makeover.
Residents marked the occasion at St Clare’s Court in Leigh Park with nibbles and drinks. As part of the refurbishment new carpets, chairs and blinds were fitted.
Residents also got to have a say on how the rooms should look.
The work was carried out by Portsmouth City Council, which runs the home.
Phil Norville, the council’s property manager for Leigh Park, officially reopened the two rooms by cutting a ribbon.
Sheila Cooper, member of the residents’ committee, said: ‘We were so delighted with the newly decorated lounges that we decided to hold a party and celebrate them being back in use. They look so welcoming and homely.’
Chris Wagnell, area manager for the council, said: ‘This is fantastic news for the residents.
‘I’m so pleased that the event had such a great turnout.’
