BINMEN were forced to tip out the contents of their truck at the side of the A27 after a fire started in the back.

Two crews from Cosham fire station were called to the A27 westbound, near the Eastern Road junction, at about 10.15am yesterday.

Watch manager Mark Jones said: ‘It was a Havant Borough Council tipper truck so we got him to tip everything out at the side of the road. It saved the truck but it made a mess of the side of the road.

‘We think it was probably a barbecue that wasn’t properly put out.’
