A SCOUT troop in Sarisbury Green has been awarded £400 by the council to enable its members to purchase cookers.

The 1st Sarisbury Green Scout Troop has been awarded the money so the group can buy four Trangias – lightweight cookers.

The cookers will be used by the scouts when undertaking two-day expeditions as they work towards their Expedition Challenge Badges. Those taking part in the expedition are expected to carry all their kit on their backs and to camp out overnight.

Councillor Sean Woodward, leader of Fareham Borough Council, said: ‘I’m pleased that we are able to fund the project, as the 1st Sarisbury Scouts provide excellent scouting activities.’
