Coroner rules death in Spain an accident

THE death of a man who came off his motorcycle in Spain was an accident, a coroner has concluded.

Stuart Martin, 67, who was born in Portsmouth, died in hospital on February 2 after the accident, which happened when he was out riding his new Harley-Davidson.

The inquest heard Mr Martin moved to Spain three years ago and lived in Vinuela, near Malaga.

He was out riding with a friend who also lived in Spain.

The accident happened on a downward sloping curve of the N-340 highway near Almuñécar, on Spain’s south coast, about 1.40pm.

Coroner David Horsley said: ‘There doesn’t seem to be any medical reason as to why he’s come off and it doesn’t seem he was going particularly fast, but for some reason he’s lost control of the bike.’

Mr Martin was taken by ambulance to Hospital Santa Ana De Motril, where he died of chest injuries.
