A YOUNGSTER triggered a dramatic rescue when he became stuck while trying to climb up chalk cliffs.

Cosham’s firefighters were called by police when the 10-year-old boy was spotted in the chalk pits at Paulsgrove in Portsmouth.

Watch manager Kevin Lloyd-Spencer said: ‘We got a call saying this lad was stuck halfway up the chalk face.

‘We used a 10.5m ladder and a rope pack to get to him and fortunately we were able to get him down safely.’

The boy is not believed to have suffered any injuries in the incident.
