A PUB is looking for a community hero to help celebrate its £300,000 makeover.

The Cocked Hat, in Privett Road, Gosport, called last orders on Monday before closing for a major revamp.

It will reopen on July 18 as a Flaming Grill outlet and will have an official launch ceremony on July 30 from midday.

Manager Diana Stephens wants pubgoers to nominate a community hero to receive VIP treatment at the Wild West-themed launch party.

She said: ‘In keeping with the day’s theme, we are looking for a sheriff to officially open the pub who will be someone within the community who does a great amount of good work but doesn’t get the deserved recognition.

‘They and their “deputies” will be treated to VIP treatment including a meal on us.

‘The Cocked Hat is a brilliant pub but is in need of this investment.’

The major renovation of the pub will lead to the creation of 20 new jobs.

If you would like to nominate either an individual or a charity group to be the sheriff, call Diana on (023) 9258 3422.
