COUNCILLOR Peter Eddis has welcomed the news two hospital trusts are in talks to see how specialist surgeons could be shared.
Bosses at Queen Alexandra Hospital and Southampton General Hospital, have until the end of this week to thrash out a plan to share vein surgeons between the two sites.
A three-month consultation into plans was postponed after it was revealed the option to have a ‘network’ split between the hospitals left too many questions.
Cllr Eddis, chairman of Portsmouth City Council’s health overview and scrutiny panel, said: ‘I’m glad the bosses are talking to each other, and I hope they can reach an agreement that is in the best interests of residents.
‘Clinical needs are important but so are patient needs.’
