POLITICIANS and volunteers spent a morning cleaning up a beach.

Liberal Democrat councillors picked up rubbish at Southsea seafront on Saturday.

Portsmouth City Councillor Lynne Stagg, former Lord Mayor for Portsmouth, said: ‘We want to make sure that we do our part to help ensure we live in a clean and tidy city – one where people are proud to live, work and visit.

‘International Coastal Cleanup Day has been running for over 26 years.’

Cllr Lee Hunt, ward member for Central Southsea, added he believes fly-tipping is becoming a problem in the city.
