Senior police officer hits out at ‘irresponsible’ drivers after 320 thefts from vehicles

A REWARD of £10,000 is being offered to catch an armed robber who targeted a Portsmouth betting shop.

The robber threatened two staff members at Ladbrokes, Copnor Road, Copnor, with a knife before making off with a quantity of cash. An exact amount of money has not been disclosed by detectives investigating the case.

The robber entered the store through a rear door while the workers, one in his 20s and the other in his 30s, were preparing to close the shop

He then left the store again using the rear door, after the incident took place on Wednesday January 4. The Association of British Bookmakers has put up a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the robber.

The male accused is described as white, in his early 20s, 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall, of slim build, and was wearing dark clothing.

At the time of the offence, police believed the robber may have driven off in a dark-coloured car. Anyone with information should contact Portsmouth CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
