CAMERA equipment worth more than £4,000 was stolen in a burglary.

Police believe the thieves probably did not realise the value of the Nikon camera and lens when they took it.

A small amount of cash was also stolen from the house in Church Road, Hayling Island.

The burglar managed to break in through the UPVC front door and took the bag containing the camera equipment from the front room.

PC Nick Wisdom, from Havant police said: ‘The offenders may not have known how valuable that was.

‘We are appealing for anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in Church Road between those times to come forward.

‘We are also appealing for anyone who may have been offered Nikon camera equipment to come forward.’

The burglary happened between 1pm and 11pm on September 3.

Anyone with information should contact the Havant and Waterlooville Priority Crime team on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
