A CAR belonging to a 71-year-old woman was stolen during a burglary at her Portsmouth flat.

Thieves fled Crown Street in a white Mini Countryman after breaking into the victim’s home at 1.20pm.

The car was found four days later on Wednesday at the junction of Garrison Hill and Sheep Pond Lane in Droxford.

Det Con Charlie Cox from Fratton CID said: ‘This is a cowardly crime targeting an elderly woman causing damage to her home and stealing her only means of transport.

‘The crime was committed in broad daylight on Saturday. Someone know who did this and we appeal to your conscience to help us catch those responsible.

He added: ‘The car has suffered damaged and so may have been involved in a collision.’

Call Det Con Cox at Fratton police station on 101.
