THE Coastguard is appealing for help after one of its volunteers had a bag of kit stolen from his car.

A Portsmouth Coastguard rescue volunteer had his car broken into overnight on Thursday.

Among items taken were the volunteer’s personal protective equipment including blue overalls, helmet, hi-vis jackets and trousers and a pair of black Magnum safety boots.

The kit carries the Coastguard logo.

A spokesman said: ‘As a result of the kit being taken the volunteer will be unable to respond as part of the team to incidents until replacement personal and protective equipment has been sourced.

‘Please keep an eye out on sites like eBay for equipment similar to that being sold or offered around.’

Anyone with information should call Hampshire Constabulary on 101.
