POLICE are appealing for information after a cyclist was seriously injured in a collision in Fareham this week.

Officers were called at 11.50am on Tuesday, after a cyclist was in collision with a lorry on Gosport Road, near the junction with Newgate Lane.

The 60-year-old woman, from Southampton, suffered a serious head injury and was taken to Southampton General Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.

The curtain-sided Mercedes lorry was being driven by a 66-year-old man from Chichester.

He was shaken but otherwise uninjured.

Road closures and diversions were put in place to allow the air ambulance to land and for the police to investigate the scene and recover the vehicles.

Closures were lifted at around 2.30pm.

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw the collision, or the lorry or the bicycle before it.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fratton Roads Policing unit on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
