TWO men wearing balaclavas held up a petrol garage in Gosport with a knife and a handgun last night.

Police were called at 9.51pm after the robbers struck at a BP garage on Brockhurst Road.

After threatening staff, the men fled with an unknown quantity of cash from the till.

A female member of staff sustained a minor head injury. It is unknown how she was hurt.

Last night police carried out an extensive search of the area for the suspects but they have not been found.

Officers are still at the scene this morning carrying out their investigation.

Neighbours have today spoken of their shock after the robbery.

One man who lives nearby, in Brockhurst Road, said: ‘I didn’t know anything about it but when I heard it I was really shocked.

‘I feel really sorry for whoever was working there because that is just so unfair to them.

‘I hope they catch whoever did it.’
