Police offer reward for arrest of former Portsmouth resident after £12 million heroin supply trial

An elderly man and woman were injured in an unprovoked attack.

An 83-year-old woman was approached by a man in her front garden, in Durley Avenue, Waterlooville, and hit over the head with a plastic bottle.

He then took her crutch and hit her on the head and body.

The victim’s 80-year-old neighbour came to her aid and he was also assaulted.

Both victims were taken by ambulance to Queen Alexandra Hospital where they were treated for cuts and bruises.

It happened at 2.15pm on Sunday.

Det Con Deborah Alexander from Waterlooville police station moved to reassure residents.

‘This is an extremely rare and isolated incident,’ she said. ‘I urge local residents not be worried but officers from the Waterlooville North Safer Neighbourhoods team will be patrolling in the area to offer reassurance.’

A 37-year-old man from Waterlooville has been arrested on suspicion of assault. He has been bailed to return to Waterlooville police station on October 18.
