Arsonists have struck three times in East Cosham.

Police say that between 3.30 and 4.30am on Wednesday, October 22 a car was set alight in an open garage in Beaconsfield Avenue.

At the same time a trailer was set alight in front of a garage in Hilary Avenue and a wheelie bin was seton fire in front of a house on Lonsdale Avenue.

Police say the three roads are linked by service roads and alleyways and that they are linking these three incidents and believe the fires were started deliberately.

Detective Constable Steven Bourne said: “We would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or people in the area to contact us. We would also like to hear from you if you have any other information which may assist our investigation.

“I would advise homeowners to try to keep property stored securely inside and to lock garage doors.”

Anyone with information should contact District CID at Fratton police station on 101. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
