ATTACKER Christopher Berry has been spared jail.

Berry, from Covert Grove, Purbrook, was found guilty of assaulting a man by beating him while in Waterlooville on February 1.

The 22-year-old was sentenced to 12 weeks in jail suspended for 12 months by magistrates.

Berry was ordered to spend 15 hours at an attendance centre and told to pay £200 in compensation.

Berry was ordered to pay £100 in court costs and was given a 12-month restraining order by Portsmouth magistrates.
