AN attacker caught with cannabis on him at a police station has been spared jail.

Craig Mitchell, 36, of Thornton Road, Gosport, admitted assaulting a man at Dartmouth Court, Gosport, and possessing cannabis at Fareham police station on October 19.

Mitchell was jailed for four months suspended for two years and put under supervision for a year by Portsmouth magistrates.

He was told to complete a course to control violence for angry, impulsive drinkers. He must pay £125 compensation, an £80 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
