Crackdown as police use undercover cyclist to catch ‘close pass’ drivers

A THIEF tried to break into a Gosport home while the owner was asleep in bed.

The incident happened between 8pm on Tuesday, May 28, and 9am on Wednesday, May 29, in Peel Common.

Although the suspect was not able to gain entry and nothing was stolen, there was damage to the external door handle which appears to be tool marks.

Detectives investigating the case are asking members of the public to contact the police if they saw anyone acting suspiciously or heard anything at some point during that night.

Police are also advising homeowners to keep their doors and windows locked – especially with the warmer weather approaching – and pay attention to any insecure doors when gardening during the day.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
