TWO boys have been arrested after a stolen car crashed in Portsmouth.

The sound of the Saab convertible skidding then hitting a lamppost close to Eastney Swimming Pool in Esplanade woke nearby residents at 3am today.

Police were called and they arrived to find the vehicle damaged and abandoned opposite Driftwood Gardens.

Two 16-year-old boys were arrested in connection with the crash a short time later.

Police arranged for the vehicle to be towed away.
